Alternative internal lining

With the current high building demand in New Zealand combined with the ongoing supply issues with some building products, Stroud Homes is always looking at alternate products to feature throughout your new Stroud home.

In this blog we talk you through the alternatives to GIB plasterboards and tiles for the internal lining of your home, to keep your home build moving forward and avoid further delays.

Internal finishes

One product that has been widely discussed in the news is the supply of GIB and the delays that it has caused. GIB being the most common building product for internal finishes is a fantastic material and gives you an excellent finish, but it is not the only product on the market to have your internal walls lined with.

Internal walls can be lined with MDF or plywood to still give you a smooth and clean finish.

With the panels you can feature these throughout the home with negative details, arrised edges at the joints or battens spaced evenly along the wall, your options are endless with alternate finishes and design to panels.

Plywood panels not only come in a flat panel but also a ‘v’ groove profile giving you more characteristics and standout features. The ‘v’ groove paneling is often used on ceilings or feature walls.

We have a project coming up with ‘v’ grooved paneling, watch this space!

Bathroom wall lining alternatives

Like GIB on internal walls, bathrooms are most commonly lined with tiles. There are products on the market that can be used for wall linings such as the Laminex ‘Seratone’ or James Hardie ‘Glaze’ lining ranges.

These panels have a variety of finishes that can transform your room without the need for GIB and tiles.

Exterior wall claddings often get mistaken for exterior claddings only, this is not the case and most exterior claddings can also be used internally as well such as brick, stone schist, coloursteel, horizontal and vertical claddings.

Using external claddings internally definitely makes a statement and is a great way to feature certain areas of the home.
