Craig Shorrock has been working in the building industry in Auckland for over 30 years. His many years in the industry has given him a wealth of knowledge in construction and a passion for problem-solving, which has led to the recent 10 years repairing leaky homes and getting right, what other builders couldn’t build right the first time
Craig started out as a quantity surveyor and later moved on to project management and spec building. After a few years, Craig began contract house building. The excellent end results of his builds were quickly recognised and Craig was approached and asked to repair a leaky home. This fast became a specialty for his skills, which has led to over 200 house reclads in the past 10 years.
Craig is now eager to get back to building new homes for the satisfaction of building something from scratch and the amount of pride achieved with the final product.
Working in the Auckland area for over three decades gives Craig the advantage of knowing the local suppliers, sub-contractors, and City Council.
Craig can proudly say he was invited by the Government to become New Zealand’s first licensed building practitioner after the Licensed Builders Practitioner Scheme began 12 years ago. He received his license from Shane Jones, who was the Minister of Housing at the time:

Craig and his wife, Clare Shorrock decided to jump on-board the Stroud Homes team in order to have the ability to compete with other home building franchises in New Zealand and to leverage off the strong brand Stroud Homes has been able to establish in Australia. With a wide selection of home designs and an incredible range of inclusions, Stroud Homes Auckland South can make your dream home a reality.
Craig’s goal as a Stroud Homes is to have a building company in Auckland South with a stellar reputation of being a pleasant experience, second to none for quality and workmanship. He is also striving to become the most approachable building company in the area.
Helping homeowners repair their largest asset for the past 10 years, with recladding and repairing their houses, has given Craig a huge appreciation of a home owner’s connection with their build and their want and need to understand the process as much as possible.
Craig is great at explaining the process in simple terms to assist the homeowner to understand the process, reasons why something is done and the options available to a homeowner every step of the way.
This approach to construction has given him attention to detail which is second to none.
“I have a passion for building and organising the building process so it is a smooth and care-free experience for the client.”
Craig predicts the suburbs of Alfriston, Botany, Beachlands, Brookby, Clevedon, Drury, Flat Bush, Hunua, Mangere, Otahuhu, Papatoetoe, Takanini, Papakura, and Whitford to be the new hot spots for families to move into in 2019.
