The wrap-up
Before we let the team go on a well-deserved break at Christmas, we sat down with Stroud Homes Auckland South builder Clare Shorrock to talk about the year that had passed.
2021 was a challenging year for builders everywhere with staff shortages and delays in materials, and we were interested to know how the team persevered and what the outlook is for 2022.
We also have some exciting news to share: winning a silver medal for the House of the Year Awards 2021!

2. What was the highlight for your franchise in 2021?
Securing a display home location!
We also had our first ever entry in the Master Builders House of the Year Awards 2021 and we won a SILVER medal!
We are so proud of our team, many builders try for years to get an award as the competition is so tough, it was a huge achievement to win an award our first time.
3. What was the biggest hurdle you or your business overcame in 2021?
With the supply issues across the industry, our systems with organisation has seen us being able to build to program without having jobs on hold while waiting for materials.
4. Areas that has been more popular to build new homes in?
There is a trend with infill housing, with home owners having the ability to subdivide their existing property.
This is providing options; be it terraced housing, townhouses or even a minor dwelling.
5. What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
Completing our display home. It is a house and minor dwelling to showcase the option available for extended family living or a rental to help pay your mortgage.
You will also be able to view some of our many new home inclusions, finished and fittings in the new display home.
6. Do you have any resolutions or goals you are setting for 2022?
We are planning on doubling our amount of builds for the coming year compared to last year
7. Lastly, any important dates or milestones for 2022?
