Before the meeting..

Congratulations, you’ve done the hard yards! You have save for a deposit, you have researched the best home builder and house plan and now the only thing left is to start building your home.

Before the slab can be poured and the contract signed, you will have an initial meeting with your home builder. This meeting is crucial in setting expectations for your new home.

Here is how to best prepare before meeting with your Stroud Homes builder:

Questions to ask

Questions to ask

It’s a good idea to come prepared to your first meeting with a good idea of the home you would like to build in terms of size, number of bedrooms and a vague idea of style.

Do you already have land to build on or are you currently in the market for a section? With this information and an idea of your budget we can work with you to begin designing your new home.

Floor plans

Floor plans

It’s helpful if you can bring along a few ideas of floor plans you like the look and feel of, even if there is only sections of each that you like.

We have an extensive range of plans available and this gives us a great starting point in understanding what you are looking for in your new build.

Consider your lifestyle

Consider your lifestyle

What’s important to you in your home? You might be regular entertainers and need to ensure you have space to accommodate gatherings of friends and family, or you could be a movie buff whose media room is going to be the highlight of their home.

Your lifestyle is important when considering the sizes and layout of each space in your home.

Think about style & interior

Think about style & interior

This is especially important when considering your budget, you may have expensive taste and want to upgrade your entire kitchen for example – if we are aware of this from the beginning, we can make sure that the home is designed in a way to accommodate this within budget.

This is also important when it comes to your lifestyle, and considering items that are durable for families with children and pets.

Budget

Budget

Knowing your budget is an important place to start, and with this information we can guide you to understand the size of the home you will be able to build, along with any additional costs you need to consider regarding your section.

We can work with budgets of any size and can help you to get the best result from the budget you provide us with.

Timeframe

Timeframe

It’s a good idea to discuss the timeframe you have in mind with us. If you are set on being in your completed home by a certain date we can tell you from the beginning whether this is realistic or not.

While we can’t give a definite completion date at your initial meeting due to unknown timeframes in design and council, once your drawings are consented we will be able to give you a clear date.

Inclusions

Inclusions

We have a great range of Fully Loaded Inclusions, covering every aspect of your home.

It’s a good idea to get familiar with this so that you have a good understanding of what our pricing includes when you receive a quote.

Where to build/land

Where to build/land

It is likely that you will have a good idea of the area you would like to live and we are able to guide you in terms of available land and sections that are cost effective to build on.

We can also help you to understand the different requirements and covenants in the various areas within our territory.
