Nation-wide lockdown forces office closure

Because of the nation-wide lockdown happening in New Zealand in attempt to slow down the spread of COVID-19, Stroud Homes has been forced to close its doors.

During this time, Stroud Homes Auckland North builder Michael Rabey would like to reach out to current and potential customers, assuring them it will be all systems go as soon as everyone is allowed back at work.

As the impact of COVID-19 is felt across the country, what is Stroud Homes Auckland North doing to keep ‘business as usual’?

New Zealand is in lockdown for a minimum of four weeks with only essential services allowed to keep working.

Residential construction is not considered an essential service so we have had to shut our doors and work from home. Construction sites have been locked up, made secure and made weather resistant.

However, although current construction is on hold, planning, pricing and marketing continues.

Homes that are in the pre-construction stage continue to have their construction contract administration documents finalised and ready to go as or when we can get back to work.

Enquiries are being answered and clients and potential clients are being engaged with on various digital platforms and by phone.

How are you communicating with clients during self-isolation? What technologies are you using?

Email, Voxer, Skype and whatsapp have been our main modes of communication with people appearing to be very comfortable with the new normal.

Hours of work are the same, its just you can’t come to the display office to see us.

However, most of our designs have Mataport (3D) virtual walk through’s which give a great idea of the spaces of our home designs, how you could potentially furnish and the quality of the finish.

Can you reassure clients who have started their build, or are in the process of starting their build, that they will proceed as usual when allowed?

Existing clients have seen the security, weather tight and safety measures put in place for the duration of the lockdown on each of the build sites.

Materials are positioned ready to be delivered as soon as we are all allowed to get back to work and contractors will pick up where they left off.

The reality is that we have at least four weeks added to the length of the build time but work progresses as soon as we are allowed.

We hope clients realise this and we’re happy to talk this through with anyone if needed.
